The opportunity

Gildan is seeking a skilled System Administrator to join our global infrastructure team. In this role, you will support and optimize business-critical systems running on IBM i (iSeries/AS400) and Oracle’s JD Edwards (JDE) EnterpriseOne ERP platforms.

You will play a vital role in preventing production disruptions, managing technical risks, and executing disaster recovery strategies. Working closely with Business Analysts, Developers, and global stakeholders, you will ensure our core manufacturing and supply chain environments remain secure, compliant, and highly available.

The role

  • ERP & Application Support: Collaborate with developers and analysts to maintain JD Edwards EnterpriseOne applications; manage CNC tasks including JDE package builds, deployments, and security administration.
  • Infrastructure Management: Maintain and support IBM Power Systems (pSeries), HMC, VIOS, external storage, and partition management (LPARs).
  • High Availability & Recovery: Manage BRMS backups, maintain PowerHA environments, and actively lead semi-annual Disaster Recovery (DR) testing.
  • System Maintenance: Perform routine OS upgrades, apply PTFs, update firmware, and manage third-party tools (e.g., Robot, Cilasoft).
  • Security & Compliance: Partner with the IT Security team to ensure systems align with SOX controls, internal audits, and governance policies.
  • Operations: Participate in a rotational shift schedule, including occasional 24/7 on-call availability to handle critical incidents.
  • Service Delivery: Provide high-quality technical support to internal clients, promptly resolving issues and enhancement requests.
  • Innovation & Research: Conduct research and solution comparisons to provide data-driven recommendations for new technology acquisitions and system enhancements.

The requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of hands-on administration experience with IBM i (OS/400, iSeries, V7R1 or newer).
  • ERP Expertise: 3+ years of experience with JD Edwards EnterpriseOne or OneWorld system administration (package builds, OMW, Security).
  • ERP Deployment & Upgrades: Proven experience executing full JD Edwards platform upgrades on Windows or IBM i.
  • Application Servers: Hands-on experience with WebLogic Application Server, including installations, upgrades, and patching.
  • High Availability: Proven experience managing PowerHA environments and conducting failover testing.
  • Backup Systems: Deep expertise with BRMS configuration and recovery on IBM i.
  • Hardware & Virtualization: Strong technical knowledge of HMC (Hardware Management Console) and managing LPARs via VIOS.
  • Platform Tools: Direct experience managing IBM i audit, security, and automation tools, specifically Cilasoft and Robot.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in SQL and core networking concepts (TCP/IP, Windows Server environment basics).
