The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the IT Infrastructure Manager, the Database Administrator (DBA) plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous availability, performance, and security of Gildan’s global database ecosystem. In this role, you will oversee a multi-platform environment spanning Oracle, SQL Server, and cutting-edge cloud solutions.

As part of a business that operates around the clock, this position requires commitment to a rotational on-call schedule including scheduled evenings and weekends to ensure seamless operational coverage, support international sites, and execute critical updates outside of standard business hours

The Role

• Database Administration & Lifecycle: Set up, configure, maintain, and upgrade enterprise Oracle, SQL Server, and Cloud DB (Azure/Snowflake) technologies while enforcing deployment and usage standards.
• Performance Optimization: Diagnose and troubleshoot complex database system bottlenecks through rigorous index, memory, CPU, and space analysis.
• Development & BI Collaboration: Partner with BI and development teams to assist in optimal database design, SQL script creation, and stored procedure tuning.

• Change Management: Ensure all environment modifications are thoroughly tested and seamlessly implemented to prevent downtime or impact on integrated systems and clients.
• Security & Compliance: Enforce robust physical and network security policies, manage user profiles, maintain remote access connections, and rigorously update SOX security documentation.
• Business Continuity: Maintain, test, and update the comprehensive Disaster Recovery (DR) Plan to guarantee business resilience.
• Documentation & Asset Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date database documentation, standard operating procedures, and software license inventories.
• Service Delivery: Provide high-quality technical support to internal clients, promptly resolving database issues and enhancement requests.
• Innovation & Research: Conduct research and solution comparisons to provide data-driven recommendations for new technology acquisitions and system enhancements.
• Operational Communication: Assist in the effective, timely communication of upcoming planned and unplanned systems changes to users

The Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
• Experience: 7–10 years of proven experience as a Production Database Administrator in a complex, multi-platform enterprise environment.
• Database Expertise: In-depth, hands-on knowledge of both Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server administration, architecture, and performance tuning.
• Cloud Solutions: Strong familiarity with modern enterprise Cloud DB solutions; direct experience with Azure and/or Snowflake platforms is highly advantageous.
• Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical changes to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
• Compliance & Security: Prior experience working within a regulated environment (such as SOX compliance) and managing strict database security protocols.
• Collaboration: Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Infrastructure, Business Intelligence (BI), and Development teams across international sites.
• Operational Flexibility: Flexibility and willingness to participate in a rotational, on-call framework to support a 24/7 global manufacturing operation.
