The Opportunity

Perform quality assurance activities for application components and programs, including both new and existing solutions, to ensure they effectively support business operations, maintain business continuity, and meet established usability and quality standards. Design and execute test scenarios based on business user requirements, architecture guidelines, and established standards, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategy through the effective use of technology, resources, and defect-tracking tools.

For third-party solutions, provide support to vendors by validating that applications meet the quality standards and business specifications requested by the organization. Ensure the proper execution of test plans for requirements delivered by the Development team, based on the designs and requirements defined by the Architect and Scrum Master. Record defects, enhancements, and incidents in the designated tool in a timely, accurate, and clearly documented manner. Execute all defined test scenarios thoroughly and on schedule to support the corresponding certification process. Train key users on the applications and components implemented by the Development team.

The Role

  • Develop test scenarios based on the design and architecture defined by the Development team.
  • Manage the timeline for developing test scenarios as defined by the corresponding Scrum Master.
  • Validate unit testing results to ensure delivered work meets business requirements, using available methodologies, tools, and established standards.
  • Ensure compliance with quality criteria for assigned components.
  • Support the Development team in identifying the appropriate testing approach and required test types.
  • Participate actively in project and component planning, analysis, design, testing, and training activities.
  • Collaborate with architects, technical leads, and business stakeholders to estimate testing timelines for new systems, enhancements, modifications, and fixes.
  • Act as a technical knowledge resource by sharing expertise and practical experience with the team.
  • Review components under development, when required, to identify optimization opportunities and improvement areas.
  • Stay current with relevant technologies and best practices to support more robust solutions and reduce testing cycles.
  • Build effective working relationships with internal teams to promote the adoption of quality standards, methodologies, and deliverables.
  • Maintain up-to-date information systems documentation as a reliable reference for decision-making, issue resolution, and solution deployment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the direct supervisor.

The Requirements

  • Education and Experience:
    • Technical degree, current student, or bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
    • One year of experience in software quality assurance is preferred.
    • One year of experience in software development is preferred.
    • One year of experience in systems analysis and design is preferred.
    • Proficiency in spoken and written English is preferred.
  • Technical Knowledge:
    • Relational databases
      • ANSI SQL
      • Oracle
      • DB2
      • SQL Server
    • Defect tracking tolos
    • Test Methodologies or Frameworks (i.e. ISTQB)
    • TDD tool (Test Driven Development)
    • General knowledge of programming languages
      • .NET
      • Java preferred
      • PHP preferred
    • General knowledge of web programming
      • HTML5
      • Style sheets (CSS3)
      • JavaScript
      • jQuery
      • Ajax
      • Angular
      • Bootstrap
    • General proficiency with office productivity tools.
