INCREASING ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE
At Gildan, we often contribute to local organizations in the form of in-kind or cash donations to increase communities’ accessibility to quality and timely healthcare in the regions where we operate. In the past, we have donated advanced surgical equipment to the Mario Catarino Rivas regional hospital in Honduras, addressing the community’s pressing need for surgery for hundreds of children, free of charge. In Nicaragua, we donated a high-performance laboratory refrigerator to the Nicaraguan Commission for Aid to Children with Cancer, facilitating the storage of chemotherapy medicines and biopsy equipment. This contribution has supported efficient diagnosis and treatment of children with cancer.
SUPPORTING SPECIAL OLYMPICS IN HONDURAS
Every year, employees from our Honduras facilities participate as volunteers in a sports day with Special Olympics’ athletes in San Pedro Sula. The group spends the day with athletes from different disciplines like track and field, obstacle courses, bocce ball, and badminton, where athletes with intellectual disabilities showcase their talents and promote the ideals of acceptance and inclusion.
SUPPORT TO CENTRAIDE OF GREATER MONTREAL
Employees at our global headquarters have rallied together since 2017 to support communities in need in the Greater Montreal area. Every year, head office employees come together to raise funds that are used to alleviate poverty, provide essential supplies, support youth education and employment, and fight social isolation.
