The opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President, Human Resources, the Senior Manager, Diversity Equity and Inclusion role, is based at Gildan’s corporate office located in Montreal, Canada. This position is responsible for implementing and sustaining the Global DE&I strategy, and for positioning DE&I initiatives throughout our vertically integrated structure.
The role
- Develop, implement and support organization-wide diversity and inclusion strategy and directions based on Gildan’s business plan and values;
- Propose and recommend to the organization any relevant programs to ensure a more diverse workplace. Structure action plans and ensure their effective deployment;
- Advise and support business units in their human resources initiatives and practices to foster an inclusive and diverse workplace;
- Identify key players in the external community and build lasting partnerships. Act as an ambassador of Gildan in the area of employee diversity with external partners and authorities;
- Develop an external and internal visibility and communication plan to achieve Gildan’s diversity and inclusion objectives;
- Identify and propose strategies and actions to encourage leaders to adopt practices that promote openness and acceptance of diversity and that value equity and inclusion. Propose and oversee the deployment of relevant training and awareness activities to reinforce a culture of equity and inclusion;
- Develop and update relevant indicators for measuring our performance and progress about our diversity and inclusion strategies and programs.
The requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resources management, industrial relations or any other relevant discipline; a master’s degree is an asset;
- Ten (10) years of relevant experience in developing and implementing diversity policies and programs in a large organization;
- Experience in organizational development is an asset;
- Experience collaborating with team members across the globe within different cultures;
- Knowledge of the applicable laws and programs;
- Very strong analytical and organizational diagnostic skills;
- Strong project management skills;
- Strong influencing skills and politically savvy;
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English. French and Spanish are an asset;
- Readily voices opinions (supported by facts), escalate issues and ideas, and able to positively manage relationships;
- This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or requiring services in a language other than French – mainly English.
